Nordic ID announces GPS as a new functionality on Nordic ID mobile computers

The Global Positioning System (GPS) is a satellite-based radio navigation system, which permits users to define their position 24 hours a day anywhere in the world. All it requires is a clear line of sight to four or more GPS satellites. For example, in mobile phones GPS has been used for navigation and consumer services.  Now Nordic ID makes GPS available for mobile RFID solutions as well.

GPS location information can be associated with RFID tag information in e.g. the following business applications:
? Real-time returnable transportation item (RTI) and asset management
? Tracking of goods in harsh winter conditions
? Maintenance and field service operations

The Nordic ID MHL (multiple hardware layer) application development tool enables easy implementations of the the new GPS functionality on existing customer software applications.

Nordic ID offers the GPS functionality for all Nordic ID Morphic and Nordic ID Merlin barcode and RFID mobile computers equipped with 3G connectivity. Nordic ID is the only manufacturer which offers GPS functionality free of charge.
